I hope you won’t forget God’s impact on today. From the moment we got to Dupont Circle and started singing and praising God, one of the homeless men came up to us and started talking to us. Granted I took everything he said with a grain of salt, because he seemed like the kind of person that would say anything for some cash, but he really was thankful for the sandwiches we made and kept repeating how we didn’t have to be out there.
            Muriel was such an inspiration to me, a lot of people ask why homeless people don’t just try to find jobs and get of their situation, but she was an example of someone doing exactly that. Right now she sells the homeless newspaper and also has a part-time job. She’s looking forward to owning her own place.
            If there’s one thing I learned about today, it is humility. These people have absolutely nothing, and most have even lost their pride, which is something we could learn from them. We dealt with so many types of people, from people who knew and loved Christ to those who questioned God’s existence in this corrupt world, but one thing they had in common was acceptance for one another. They all had nothing, but they all had nothing together.
            A lot of times we pass homeless people on the street and pass judgment on them, but we never stop to think that they are probably judging us as well. We who walk by them in our brand-name clothing carrying a starbucks coffee, and have no concern for those who go to sleep freezing outside every night.
One of the many popcorn prayers we heard this weekend touched me the most. “Dear Lord let those who are hungry feel full
