Having heard the stories of those who preceded us, we thought our work in Africa would be similar to their experiences. We thought we were prepared, we thought we knew what to expect. We quickly came to learn, however, that no two mission trips are alike and truly God will use us as He wishes. We realize that our time in Africa is precious, a once in a lifetime opportunity to examine our relationship with the Lord.
Today we were blessed to go into many “compounds” that neighbor Lusaka and visit members of the community. We all knew were fortunate beforehand, but today confirmed how blessed our lives are. Not only do we not hunger physically, we are not starving spiritually. We heard testimonies that would make the strongest person cry- a women whose husband suffered a stroke and whose children were starving, but found that God provided in the hardest times. Tomorrow is a new day, always filled with God’s blessings. We don’t know exactly what we will see or what we will do, but we know that God will bless it and allow His work to shine through us.
