Haiti - Day 6
Monday, 19 April 2010 02:57

During this trip we have had a plan for every day and almost every day God has completely changed it. Today was no exception. We were planning on going to church this morning and no more than 2 minutes after leaving the house our taptap started to make a funny sound. Someone had tried to steel the rims off of our taptap at night and although they didn't succeed, they got away with some of our bolts and now we didn't have enough bolts to keep our tires secure. We quickly realized that God had changed our plan yet again. Instead, we went back to the house and had a prayer meeting. The experiences of this past week have taken an emotional toll on us and the prayer meeting we had was really heartfelt.

They provide us with breakfast and dinner daily, and it serves as our opportunity to pray with them.

Day three in haiti has proven to an emotionally challenging experience. We were fortunate enough to connect with this seventy eight year old haitian woman taking care of more than eighty children at an orphanage called "the good samaritan". What we saw as the orphanage doors opened stunned us all. There were so many children, some where partially clothed, most were completely naked, all were eagerto meet and play with this group of strangers.

Haiti - Day 2
Friday, 16 April 2010 02:38

Hello from Haiti!

Day 2 we started out reading the story of the Good Samaritan. This story that we've read so many times before really spoke to us today. In this story God commands us to love our neighbor, but who is our neighbor? Is it the person I live next to? Is it the people I work with every day? Is it people in other countries?
