Sakapfet!

Our day started at 3:45am in DC and has yet to end here in Haiti.  Before departing, many of us were unsure about what to expect, what we will experience, and how God will use us, but we went knowing that God had a plan.  The plane rides were standard, but upon arrival in Port-au-Prince, we were pleasantly greeted by a Western Union sponsored band.

Africa introduced me to God.  I never knew about His character and love until I went there and saw the children of  Zambia.  We were warned that there would be alot of kids.

What we experienced in Africa is what I imagine St. Mark experienced when he first went to Egypt. The African people are so hungry for the word of God. We carried our bibles everywhere we went, sharing The Word with everyone we encountered. We lived a life fully immersed in the spirit and we have never felt so much joy and peace in our lives.

At the Church's school for orphans, the kids are given an egg and porridge every day.  On one of the days I was there, the eggs did not arrive.  So the kids only had porridge to eat.  And what I noticed is that none of the kids even complained.  They were so grateful.  Since I have been back, I have caught myself several times making comments about what types of food I like and don't like.  I have come to realize that having a choice in what to eat is truly a luxury.
