Haiti - Day 2

Hello from Haiti!

Day 2 we started out reading the story of the Good Samaritan. This story that we've read so many times before really spoke to us today. In this story God commands us to love our neighbor, but who is our neighbor? Is it the person I live next to? Is it the people I work with every day? Is it people in other countries?

The answer is - neighbor is a global word, God commands us to love everyone. So many times we feel we need to go so far to show people Christ's love and to serve others, and it is great when God convicts our hearts to do so. Now the hard question is - do I show the person I live next to love? Do I even know their names? Can the people I work with see Christ through me? To truly live the command of 'love your neighbor', everyone that we know should be able to see and feel Christ's love through us.

We visited a few small neighborhoods today where we met some very inspirational children. A group of about 20 kids were singing a song saying "I will not die because I have Jesus's love inside". Wow, how beautiful it was. Next, we went to a tent city that words and pictures could not do justice. The tent city was endless, it was hard to see people really desperate and see how much help they need here, but it's also encouraging to see groups from all over the world here to help the people in need.

Coincidentally, tomorrow we will be serviing at an orphanage called The Good Samaritan which serves at least 80 children.
