Positions Available
Volunteer Physicians We need physicians, particularly pediatricians and internists that are licensed in Virginia, who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday a month from 12 to 2pm. We are also in need of consultants in the following areas: dermatology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, and others. A physician considering volunteering at MLC Hope Clinic must have a confident command of the Arabic language in order to communicate with the majority of patients, receive training on our database system, and be willing to adhere to all Clinic rules and procedures.
Volunteer Pharmacists We need pharmacists, who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday a month from 12 to 2 p.m. A pharmacist considering volunteering must have a confident command of the Arabic language in order to communicate with the majority of patients. Responsibilities will include counseling the patients on medications, updating the inventory log, conducting research on medication access programs, and assisting with formulary conversions.
Volunteer Front Desk Staff We need volunteers for our front desk who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday a month from 12 to 2 pm. Responsibilities include data entry, collecting money, scanning patient files, assisting clinic receptionists, and any other administrative needs. A volunteer for this position must know basic Arabic and be willing to receive training on our database.
Volunteer Receptionists We need volunteer receptionists who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday a month from 12 to 2 pm. A volunteer for this position must have a confident command of the Arabic language in order to communicate with the majority of patients. This is one of the most important positions in our clinic as you will be the first “face” patients will see. Volunteers must be able to show all patients love by welcoming them and encouraging them to engage in “spiritual” conversations. Other responsibilities include helping patients fill out forms, escorting patients back to the doctor, taking prayer requests, playing with the children in waiting room, and attending to all waiting room needs.
Church Services (Social Work) We need volunteers who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday every month from 12 to 2 pm. Volunteers must have a confident command of the Arabic language. Responsibilities include the following: 1. Assessing the social, emotional, physical and spiritual state of the patient to determine appropriate services 2. Assessing and reassessing social and emotional factors in order to help the patient and family to cope with problems in daily living associated with medical recommendations and/or social and physical needs; 3. Coordinating with physicians and other ministry representatives to develop a plan of client needs and establish medical, spiritual and physical goals; 4. Assisting clients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties by advocating and coordinating needed services and by empowering clients to obtain developed goals.
Volunteers with Phlebotomy Certified Training We need certified phlebotomists who are willing to commit to at least one Sunday from 12 to 2 pm. Responsibilities include: collecting blood samples, properly filling out lab forms, perform correct labeling of specimen, submitting lab work by calling lab, placing final specimens in specimen box and more.
Grant Writers We need volunteers that have an understanding of the grant process, are able to define our needs and document and prove these needs, and have industry-specific knowledge.
Event Coordinator/Seminar Committee We need volunteers to coordinate special events such as blood drives, health fairs, monthly Seminars, and fund-raisers. |
